MPP Shelley Martel to walk energy professionals' picket line

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - June 20, 2005) - June 17 - Sudbury area MPP Shelley Martel will visit a picket line Monday maintained by energy professionals on strike at Hydro One.

Her support in the Society of Energy Professionals' fight for fairness is very important, says the union involved. "This is a unionized town, and we'll be very happy to have Shelly on our picket line," said local Society official Paul Maynard. "It'll help educate everyone on why this is going on."

She'll be joined by Society strikers from the North Bay area, and members of the Canadian Autoworkers Local 598.

WHERE: Outside 957 Falconbridge Road, Sudbury

WHEN: Monday, June 20, 2005 at 2:30 p.m.

The Society of Energy Professionals represents more than 6,000 professional employees in the electricity industry in Ontario, including engineers, scientists, supervisors, and others. The Society is Local 160 of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
