Mr. John Tak Appointed President and CEO of Fuel Cells Canada

Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Environment Editor, Energy Editor, Science Editor, Transportation Editor VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - July 26, 2005) - Fuel Cells Canada, the national industry association for Canada's hydrogen and fuel cell sector, today announced the appointment of John Tak as its new President and CEO.

Mr. Tak brings extensive experience in the public and private sectors from his work at Magna International, The Asia Pacific Foundation, The BC Trade and Development Corporation and Mitsubishi Canada Limited. Most recently, Mr. Tak has been in charge of all aspects of Mitsubishi Canada's multi-million dollar specialty chemicals business. While working at BC Trade, a provincial crown corporation, Mr. Tak implemented and managed industrial policy and project initiatives both at home and in Japan. Mr. Tak also speaks Japanese.

"The Board of Directors are confident that John's extensive experience in global trade, government initiatives and the business sector will provide the strategic leadership our industry can rely on as we move towards fully commercializing our pioneering technologies," said Paul Howard, Chairman of Fuel Cells Canada.

Fuel Cells Canada is a national, non-profit industry association with the mission of accelerating Canada's world-leading hydrogen and fuel cell industry. It is working closely with government and industry partners on Canada's hydrogen and fuel cell technology demonstration projects: BC's Hydrogen Highway, Toronto's Hydrogen Village and the Vancouver Fuel Cell Vehicle Program.

Canada's leadership in hydrogen and fuel cell industry covers most types of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, components, systems supply and integration, fuelling systems, storage, and engineering and financial services. In between 2003 and 2004, revenues generated by the Canadian hydrogen and fuel cell sector have grown by 40 per cent, research and development expenditures have increased to $290 million per year, sector employment in Canada has reached 2,671 and global demonstration of Canadian technology has increased by 232 per cent.
