Backed by Cicero's Development Corp., Johnson Will Sign Autographs Pose for Pictures and Walk the 18-Hole Course With the Wives of PGA Golfers to Raise Awareness and Money for Domestic Violence Support Agencies

LEMONT, IL--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2011) - Zara Johnson, the reigning Mrs. Illinois, and a 59-year-old grandmother of two, will participate in the Avon Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence today at 3:30 p.m. at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club. Johnson will sign autographs and pose for pictures at the Avon booth before walking the 18-hole course with PGA wives.

Walk the Course Against Domestic Violence is a project of the Avon Foundation for Women, held in collaboration with the PGA TOUR Wives Association, the Wells Fargo Championship and the BMW Championship, which raises critical funds and awareness to help end domestic violence. The money raised provides support programs for education and prevention, and direct service programs for victims of family violence at local domestic violence agencies.

"Domestic violence is a silent killer of families and lives, and is too often unaddressed in the public domain. This important walk and cause sheds deserving light on the reality of the problem and support services available to women and men in need of help," Johnson said. "I thank Avon for the opportunity to participate and look forward to walking with the PGA wives."

Johnson is the reigning Mrs. Illinois and represented the state at the nationally-televised Mrs. America pageant earlier this year. In addition to serving as Corporate Officer and Office Manager for Cicero's Development Corp., Johnson provides counseling and guidance to recently diagnosed breast cancer patients with the Y-Me organization. She also will lead Team Zara at the Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure Sept. 24, 25, in Chicago and Lombard, respectively.
