Mu Sigma Presents at Pharmaceutical Management Science Association 2013

Presentation Explores How Pharmaceutical Companies Can Envision the Evolution of Their Payer Mix Over the Coming Years and Strategize Accordingly

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - May 2, 2013) -  Mu Sigma (http://www.mu-sigma.com), the largest pure-play provider of decision sciences and analytics solutions for global enterprise customers, announced today that it will present at Pharmaceutical Management Science Association (PMSA) 2013, taking place May 5-8, 2013 in Bonita Springs, FL. Mu Sigma's presentation "Shift in Payor Mix: How to Predict and What Does it Mean for Pharmaceutical Companies?" will explore the timely topic facing pharmaceutical companies that are looking for ways to better understand their exposure to various payer types as it has a direct impact on their future profitability.

"The managed markets landscape in the United States is changing rapidly. Pharmaceutical companies have seen commercial payer coverage decline for several drugs and other therapeutic areas. Enrollment in Medicaid is expected to increase given the recent Supreme Court ruling on 'Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.' Changing demographics of the US population, such as aging baby boomers, is also expected to contribute to a shift in payer mix," said Mukund Raghunath, Geography Head, Mu Sigma. "However, most pharmaceutical companies have little visibility into their future business from various payer types. Mu Sigma is working closely with many pharmaceutical companies to tackle this specific issue and introduce analytics to their business which is having a major impact on decisions related to product development and overall bottom line."

In this poster discussion, Mu Sigma will explain how pharmaceutical companies can predict the evolution of their payer mix over the next five years. Mu Sigma will share an approach that incorporates several driving factors including epidemiology, patient/population demographics, healthcare reforms, organic growth and competition to predict future payer mix and profitability and shared strategies that pharmaceutical companies can adopt to maintain profitability in light of the projected payer mix.
