Mudderella Unveils Brand-New Obstacles Ahead of 2016 Events Season

The Five-Mile Obstacle Course Series Designed by Women, for Women Launches New Obstacles and Heads to Five North American Events in 2016

BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwired - February 10, 2016) - Today, Mudderella, the leading obstacle event series by women, for women unveils brand-new obstacles for its 2016 events season. The obstacle innovations developed for this year will test participants' balance, strength, agility and overcoming your fear of heights like never before and will debut on-site at all 2016 events.

New obstacles hitting the course in 2016 include:

  • Peak Performance: Mudderellas must take a running head start to catapult over the top of this ramp-like obstacle that requires upper body strength and speed. Once your reach the top, grab hold of a rope and hoist yourself over before sliding down the opposite side. Built using trampoline material, the surface gets slicker as the mud piles on, making this obstacle as exhilarating as it is challenging.
  • Charlie's Angels: Make your way to the top of this massive and steep A-frame structure by grabbing for footholds and working together to ascend over the top. Charlie's Angels will test core and grip strength and stability, giving participants a full-body workout.
  • Stunt Double: Leave your stunt double at home for this one and face your fears with your team by your side. Participants will leap off this 10' platform onto a large inflatable below, giving them an adrenaline rush and true sense of accomplishment.
  • Triple Threat: Get ready for a triple shot of mud. Scramble up a slippery slope and climb into a muddy tube where you'll emerge into a pit of water. With the help of your teammates, clamber out of the mud bath onto a slick embankment and slide gracefully into a second pit, where you'll dunk under a wall to reach the exit. Triple threat, indeed.

"Our new obstacles for 2016 are more challenging and fierce than ever before," said Ali Schmidt, Event Director for Mudderella. "Mudderella is about being part of a community that celebrates women's strengths, and we're thrilled to deliver a new experience at every event this year, giving thousands of new and returning Mudderellas the chance to come together and crush it at the best course we've ever built."

Mudderella will host three events in the US in 2016, making it the perfect weekend getaway or destination event for friends and families to take together. The event series will head to:

  • Mudderella Chicago: June 4, 2016 at Lake County Fair in Grayslake, IL
    • Brand-new venue, brand-new course in 2016. Just one hour from Chitown, rally your friends for five miles of fun and challenging obstacles set along vast, open fields. Deep-dish pizzas, photo ops in front of The Bean, and a memory-making adventure await you and your squad following a post-event celebration in the city.
  • Mudderella NY/NJ: June 18, 2016 at Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ
    • Returning to the same awesome venue for 2016, get ready for five miles of terrain featuring gritty motocross hills, muddy trails and new obstacles that'll challenge your strength and determination. Less than an hour from the iconic Jersey Shore and New York City, gather your girls for a weekend of shopping, sightseeing and serious relaxation.
  • Mudderella New England: July 30, 2016 at New England Dragway in Epping, NH.
    • A brand-new course set at a unique new venue, Mudderella New England takes you through five miles of open fields, back-wood trails and motocross tracks. Set in a quaint town just one hour outside of Boston and near the coastal city of Portsmouth, NH, it's a destination that promises small-town charm and big city adventures.

Over 95% of participants sign up as a team, and events are non-competitive and untimed to encourage participants to work together as they overcome 5+ miles of diverse terrain and 12-15 signature obstacles. Mudderella encourages women of all fitness levels to join the fun and take on a true athletic challenge while sharing an experience completely out of the ordinary.

Destination Mudderella is an ideal weekend adventure for bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations, girlfriend getaways, fundraising trips, corporate team-building and much more.

In 2016, Mudderella will once again partner with Futures Without Violence, a national nonprofit that aims to prevent and end domestic violence by standing with survivors and developing innovative programs and policies that engage new allies as partners in the solution. Since our partnership began, Mudderella participants have raised over $400,000 for Futures Without Violence

"We're proud to partner with Mudderella for the third year to empower women across the country to own their strong and stand up to domestic violence and sexual assault," said Rachael Smith Fals, senior vice president at Futures Without Violence. "This powerful event provides an ideal platform for spreading awareness about the issue, raising funds in support of solutions, and standing with survivors of abuse."

Mudderella US events will once again play host to Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder, a one-mile obstacle course designed for kids ages 7-12. With obstacles like Mini Everest, Mount Mud and Tunnel of Terror, Fruit Shoot Mini Mudder gives kids the chance to join in on the action while getting muddy, working as a team and experiencing the thrill of adventure.

Registration is now open for 2016 Mudderella events; spectator tickets are also available. For those looking for a discounted registration price, volunteer opportunities are available. To join the Mudderella conversation on social, visit Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
