The Utsav-Trillium Health Centre Story:

Dr. Shiva's Rashtravani (voice of a nation), a 25 year dream is now a reality.

The year - 1990. The place - Kuwait. After the enormous success of the live audio-visual multimedia show "Discovery of India" in 1989 with over 60+ musicians and singers performing a "vrindagana"(choral and orchestral ensemble), Dr. Shiva and his team were preparing to launch the unique classical and folk symphony and choir "Rashtravani". However Iraq's invasion of Kuwait shattered those dreams. Dr. Shiva was stuck in Kuwait helping civilians evacuate a war zone.

When the time for him to leave, there was only the choice of driving his car by land or risk getting stranded in the desert. It took him 28 days to reach Mumbai via Iraq, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and India. He migrated to Canada in 1993.

Eight years later in Toronto Canada, Dr. Shiva's Rashtravani was successfully launched.

After three world premieres and several shows in Toronto and Montreal Canada, between 1999 and 2005, Dr Shiva had a stroke in April 2005. Whether you call it luck or prayer Dr. Shiva escaped with minimal or no loss of function but the episode not only left him with weakness but also with a sense of need to give back to society.

UTSAV the world premiere was on its way in any case but Dr. Shiva wanted to combine this world premiere extravaganza for a noble cause - for the Trillium Health Centre's new cardiac patient wing building. Trillium Foundation came forward to give Dr Shiva's choral ensemble the support and here we are launching the campaign to raise funds.
