It was an occasion for pride at the Montreal Science Centre on March 26, 2009, when the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Quebec Division honoured the efforts and dynamism of 25 young business leaders. The winners all received the MS Leadership Award to acknowledge their social commitment, professional achievements and contribution to the battle to end multiple sclerosis. This year's MS Leadership awards raised more than $110,000 in cash. The money will be used to support research and services for people with multiple sclerosis and their families.

Brian Edgar, Retail Executive, served as honorary chair of the 12th edition of MS Leadership. Mr. Edgar, whose participation and commitment proved to be invaluable, could serve as a model for all the award winners to whom he presented trophies; what all have in common is that they are recognized as leaders in their professional sectors. The Tommy Hilfiger Canada MS Leadership Award, which is given to the person who raises the most funds by Annie Lamarre, Vice President, Marketing at Tommy Hilfiger Canada, went to Alexandre Giasson, Finance and Administration Director at Portes Milette Inc. The event's principal partner, Tommy Hilfiger Canada, announced a contribution valued at approximately $32,000 to the 2009 MS Leadership campaign.

The MS Society was also able to count on the work of a hardworking selection committee with rigorous standards. Chaired by Andre Buteau, Financial Planner at Freedom 55 Financial, the members dug deep, despite their busy professional lives, and once again came up with an outstanding slate of award winners.

The many people who have participated in MS Leadership since 1998 have been made more aware of this important cause: multiple sclerosis is the most widespread central nervous system disease among young adults in Canada. It mainly affects people between the ages of 15 and 40, often at exactly the time when they are thinking of starting a family and building a career. The businesspeople who take part in MS Leadership are making a big contribution to enhancing the quality of life of the 13,000 to 18,000 Quebecers with MS.
