Municipal Software Corporation: Juvenile Firesetters Program Sets Pace with New Systems

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 14, 2006) - The Broward County Florida's Juvenile Firesetters Program will soon be able to track all data related to the setting of fires for all juvenile-related arsons, bomb threats, manufacturing of destructive devices, misuse of fire alarms and related events using an Internet-based system after signing an agreement with Municipal Software Corporation (TSX VENTURE:MSZ) last week. This secure, customized system is now in the first phase in a three-phase project with the Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO), which will be completed in its entirety by February 2007.

With the second and third phases of this systems implementation, Broward County Residents will begin to see a wider range of benefits. The second phase will introduce a new Airport Fuel Inspections system. The last phase will see a full roll-out of Municipal Software's PreBuiltsTM, an off-the-shelf version of CityView, which will automate all of the permitting, licensing, inspection and reporting systems of the BSO Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.

The Juvenile Firesetter Program, an acknowledged leader in providing counseling and support for identified children, has chosen Municipal Software Corporation because, "it is a leader in developing customized software solutions for e-government and will help the BSO track all activities, notifications and help to ensure compliance with the program," said, Gary Witten, Special Projects Coordinator, Broward County Department of Fire Rescue and Emergency Services.

Once the systems are delivered, some of the BSO staff can look forward to easily refining the existing systems themselves as their business processes change, and to develop brand new applications entirely from scratch with the CityView Application Builder they have purchased from Municipal Software.

Iain McLean, Chief Executive Officer for Municipal Software, said, "We are very pleased that Broward County has chosen to work with us and to use the CityView suite of products to take a leadership position in e-government. The County is taking a phased approach which will allow them to demonstrate value at each step. Once fully implemented the county will be able to predict areas at risk, develop evacuation plans, track damage and make it easier to apply for relief funding in emergencies. The CityView platform will also play a crucial role in day-to-day management needs. We are looking forward to working with the county to help it provide better services to its constituents."

FEMA has provided a grant for a portion of this project.
