Musical Arts Center Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2014) - The Musical Arts Center of San Antonio celebrated its 15-year anniversary on Aug. 8, 2014.

Launched in 1999, the Musical Arts Center, also known as MACSA, has seen exponential growth since its early days. When MACSA first opened, the center had just five teachers, 130 students and seven teaching rooms. Today, it boasts 44 teachers, more than 1,000 students, 23 grand pianos, two locations and 28 teaching rooms between both facilities.

In addition to growing in numbers and equipment, MACSA has expanded its offerings over the years. In the center's first years, only traditional and competition-level piano were offered. Today, MACSA's lessons include acoustic and electric guitar, preschool and adult piano, clarinet, drums, violin, viola, flute, special needs instruction, voice, rock ensemble, and many performance-oriented programs.

MACSA distinguishes itself from other local lesson providers with its top-tier instructors. Every instructor on staff has a bachelor's or master's degree in music, and the facility even offers extensive on-site teacher training, professional development seminars and more.

MACSA instructors are also heavily involved in the local music scene. Three have served as president of the San Antonio Music Teachers' Association, and two received the Texas Pre-College Teacher of the Year award.

The success of the center's students also speaks to the quality of its programs. Many current students have performed at Carnegie Hall, won top prizes in state and national competitions, and performed as featured soloists with professional orchestras such as the San Antonio Symphony. Students have gone on to attend some of the top music schools in the world such as Juilliard and the Eastman School of Music. Several alumni have returned home to MACSA to become instructors themselves.
