Titled "The Best Is Yet To Come: The Songs Of Cy Coleman," Release Includes First New Recordings From Fiona Apple in Five Years; New CD in Stores September 15 From New West Records

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - September 10, 2009) - New West Records today announced two upcoming concerts to promote the release of "The Best Is Yet To Come: The Songs Of Cy Coleman" an album of new recordings with an all-star line up of female singers including Fiona Apple, Patty Griffin and Madeleine Peyroux. The influential Grammy®, Emmy® & Tony® award winning songwriter and musician will be honored by many of the album's singers at two unique live concert events featuring his classic songs in Los Angeles and New York.

In Los Angeles on September 23rd at The Grammy Museum, select artists including Jill Sobule, Sara Watkins, Perla Batalla, Julianna Raye and others will be joined by Dave Palmer, the album's producer and musical arranger. They will take part in an onstage interview with music critic Chris Morris, followed by an audience Q&A and acoustic performance. Part of the Museum's acclaimed program, "The Drop," the evening will conclude with an album signing and artist meet-and-greet. Visit for additional information.

In New York City on October 28th Madeleine Peyroux, Patty Griffin, Missy Higgins, Julianna Raye, Perla Batalla, Ambrosia Parsley and others will perform songs from the album at Town Hall. Dave Palmer will again join the women on stage.

"The Best Is Yet To Come: The Songs of Cy Coleman," available September 15, 2009 from New West Records, is a provocative, cutting-edge album featuring inspiring interpretations by a select group of gifted contemporary female artists. Fiona Apple contributes two songs (her first new music in five years), alongside such artists as Missy Higgins, Madeleine Peyroux, Jill Sobule, Nikka Costa, Sara Watkins, Sam Phillips, Perla Batalla, Ambrosia Parsley and Patty Griffin, who sings a sultry version of the album's Grammy® Award winning title song.

All tracks were newly arranged by producer/pianist Dave Palmer at the suggestion of Chrysalis Music's Kenny MacPherson and Jamie Cerreta, in conjunction with Damon Booth, a veteran A&R man (EMI Music Publishing, Warner Bros. Records) who took over the running of Notable Music, Coleman's publishing company, in 2006. The friends were determined to spotlight the 2,000-song catalog of the gifted composer whose work had yet to be as fully appreciated as that of his peers.

Coleman was the last major contributor to the Great American Songbook. He's responsible for timeless songs such as "Witchcraft," "The Best Is Yet To Come," "Big Spender" and "The Rules Of The Road" made timeless by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Ella Fitzgerald won a Grammy for her performance of "The Best Is Yet To Come."
