Musician's Friend Presents the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Video Challenge

In Support of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, Musician's Friend Is Hosting the JLSC Video Challenge, Awarding a Grand Prize Including a Music & Video Recording Session


MEDFORD, OR--(Marketwire - December 6, 2010) -  Musician's Friend (www.musiciansfriend.com), a top 50 Internet retailer and the largest direct marketer of musical instruments in the United States, has announced the John Lennon Songwriting Contest Video Challenge.

Musician's Friend is inviting all aspiring musicians to submit a 30-second to 5-minute-long video of an original song to the JLSC Video Challenge. Submissions will be accepted via the Musician's Friend Facebook page through Dec. 31, 2010, for this year's contest. Applicants are invited to come back to the entry site on Jan. 1 and invite friends to join them in voting for their songs. Voters will be able to vote once per day during January for up to five bands at a time.

The grand prize, valued at over $21,000, includes a personal visit with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, providing a free one-day music and video recording session. The winner's song will appear on over 17,000 movie screens, at theaters across the U.S. for one month and the grand prize winner will receive $7,500 worth of music gear.

In February 2011, the top 25 entries will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges including The Bacon Brothers (Michael and Kevin Bacon), Natasha Bedingfield (United Kingdom's biggest female pop star), Chris Barron (Spin Doctors), Printz Board (Music Director, Black Eyed Peas), and American singer -songwriter Jill Sobule. Judges will select one grand prize winner as well as 2nd and 3rd place runners-up.
