Mutual of Omaha Announces the Star of Next Spring's National TV Commercial

America Has a Say in Favorite Aha Moment by Voting for Real People With Real Stories

OMAHA, NE--(Marketwired - Oct 15, 2013) - Mutual of Omaha, proud sponsor of life's aha moments(SM), has announced the aha moment that will be featured in its 2014 nationwide TV commercial, to begin airing next spring.

Voters from across the country, in combination with a Mutual of Omaha panel, have selected the featured moment through an online public vote that ran from Sept. 30 to Oct. 11 at http://www.ahamoment.com/vote.

"The vote enabled everyday Americans to hear and be inspired by these incredible stories from real people that truly resonated with them. We couldn't be more thrilled to recognize Tiffany Johnson from Nashville in our 2014 TV spots," said John Hildenbiddle, senior vice president of brand management and public relations at Mutual of Omaha.

Finalists gained votes for their moment by relying heavily on social media and community support, driven by local media coverage. The selection process began on Sept. 17 when Mutual and its internal panel of judges selected 20 moments from the nearly 1,000 that were recorded along the three month aha moment tour this past summer. Twenty became 10 on Sept. 30 when the public vote opened.

The aha moment to be featured on national television next spring is:

Tiffany - Nashville, Tenn.
While on a trip to Haiti in 2010, Tiffany had a chance encounter with a little girl that forever changed the way she viewed life. In that moment, she discovered the importance of instilling value in others and was reminded that you cannot be broke when you are giving your life away. Her life's work is dedicated to Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based global not-for-profit that fights poverty through the distribution of shoes and clothing.

The road to commercial stardom began on May 6 in Sacramento, Calif. and journeyed to 20 cities across the country before wrapping in Salem, Ore. on Aug. 9. At every stop, people lined up to share their personal aha moments in an Airstream trailer custom designed as a mobile television studio. Nearly 1,000 aha moments were recorded along the tour. Mutual of Omaha launched its sponsorship of life's aha moments in February 2009 and has captured almost 4,000 moments from people in cities all across the United States.
