Mxi Technologies: KLM Engineering & Maintenance Expands Scope of its Maintenix Software Implementation

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 19, 2005) - Mxi Technologies announced today that KLM Engineering & Maintenance (KLM E&M) has expanded the scope of its Maintenix® software implementation, which is used to support its operations. Building upon the successful use of Maintenix for managing its Boeing 737 Present Generation maintenance programs, KLM E&M has elected to use Maintenix for Airbus 330 (A330) aircraft as well. The first A330 went live in the Maintenix system in August 2005, and is now being maintained using Maintenix.

KLM E&M contracted Mxi to assist them in loading the maintenance program for a new fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft that KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is acquiring over the next two years, beginning August 2005. This effort was performed entirely at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as part of a test to ensure increased self-sufficiency on KLM E&M's part for loading future aircraft types. As further proof of the ease of using Maintenix, KLM E&M plans to initialize new aircraft and associated data in the Maintenix system themselves.

Maintenance program details for the A330 came from KLM E&M's coalition counterpart, Air France Industries (AFI), which already has experience with the A330 aircraft. KLM E&M used these details as the starting point for its A330 maintenance program in the Maintenix software, and added KLM-specific tasks to the maintenance program. AFI engineers are able to connect live from Paris to KLM E&M's Maintenix system in Amsterdam to assist with maintenance program changes and enhancements, building on the synergies of the coalition.

Once the A330 maintenance program was set up in the system, planners began to use Maintenix to manage this maintenance program and to plan the actual maintenance visits that are to be performed at KLM E&M's facilities. KLM took delivery of its A330 on August 25, 2005, and KLM E&M activated the aircraft in the Maintenix system the very next day. Since then, the KLM A330's maintenance program and planning activities are being managed in Maintenix.
