My Gym Children's Fitness Center Hosts Sixth Annual Nationwide Family Fun & Fitness Day on Saturday, April 30th

Event Marks Start of National Physical Fitness & Sports Month and Encourages Families to Make Health-Conscious Choices

SHERMAN OAKS, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 11, 2011) - My Gym Children's Fitness Center will host Family Fun & Fitness Day on April 30, 2011 at participating My Gym locations nationwide from San Francisco to Manhattan to kick-off National Physical Fitness & Sports Month. Family Fun & Fitness Day was designed to encourage children and families to be physically active and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Recently named partners with The President's Challenge, which is a program of The President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, My Gym will also promote the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA) during the event. The announcement was made by Matthew Hendison, Chief Marketing & Entertainment Officer for My Gym Enterprises.

Family Fun & Fitness Day is geared toward children of all ages and will be comprised of structured and age-appropriate fitness activities such as an obstacle course, music, dance, sports, relays, games, gymnastics and more. The goal of Family Fun & Fitness Day is to engage kids in physical activity and make fitness fun by developing children's social skills and self-confidence while building their strength, coordination and flexibility. Additionally, Family Fun & Fitness Day serves as a fundraising event benefiting The My Gym Challenged America Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization committed to promoting physical fitness and movement for children of all abilities and economic circumstances with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and fun (www.ChallengedAmerica.com).

"Family Fun & Fitness Day is a natural extension of our commitment to inspire children and families to make healthy choices and learn that fitness really can be fun," said Hendison. "This event marks our annual re-commitment to the cause as National Physical Fitness and Sports Month begins. We are inspired by Michelle Obama's commitment to ending childhood obesity, we are honored to be partners with the President's Challenge Program, and we are thrilled to bring families together across the nation to continue to raise awareness."

In support of Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Initiative to end childhood obesity within a generation, the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition is challenging Americans of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to achieve their PALA. The PALA requires youth participants, ages 6-17, to engage in physical activity for 60 minutes, five days per week, for six out of eight weeks. Adults should participate in 30 minutes of physical activity for the same duration. All participants who complete the PALA will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the co-chairs of the President's Council, Drew Brees and Dominique Dawes.

Special pricing and discounts on classes and programs may also be available for event attendees. For information on the participating My Gym nearest you, local times for the event and special offer details, please visit www.MyGym.com.
