My Gym Enrollment Now Includes Innovative "Building Blocks Program"

Children's Fitness Centers Adopt Company's New Interactive Skill Development and Recognition Program

SHERMAN OAKS, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2012) -   My Gym children's fitness centers, members of the My Gym Enterprise's international group of children's health and fitness centers, now offer the company's new interactive Building Blocks Program to all enrolled children aged 2.5 years and older. The Program helps children work toward specific milestones in their physical, cognitive and emotional development and then celebrates their achievements with stickers, progression ribbons, medals, trophies, graduation certificates, and more in periodic Building Blocks Acknowledgment Ceremonies.

"Our My Gym families are going to absolutely love the new Building Blocks Program," said Cory Bertisch, CEO of My Gym Enterprises. "This is the most important addition to our programming in my 20 years of working at My Gym. Children will now be able to track their own progress as they attain the life skills and physical ability that will help them succeed. Because success and the building of self-esteem are at the very core of the My Gym Program, it was imperative that our new skills progression and recognition system be all-inclusive and retain the non-competitive and positive spirit of My Gym."

The Building Blocks Program is packed with fun, age-appropriate activities that guide children toward increasingly challenging goals in a variety of social and physical skills like hand-eye coordination, listening and taking turns, balancing, tumbling, fine and gross motor skills, social boundaries and peer interaction and more. Parents receive an overall plan outlining their child's individual program and goals. The all-inclusive nature of the Program fosters a non-competitive environment where all children can experience a sense of accomplishment.

Parent reaction to the Building Blocks program has been enthusiastic and positive, according to Bertisch, with comments like this one from a family in Florida: "Since we started the Building Blocks program, we have seen such a positive impact on the kids. Each week, the children are eager to be told what they are working on, and they work so hard to achieve it."

Periodic Acknowledgement Ceremonies celebrate the children's accomplishments and provide an incentive to each child to push toward his or her next goal. During the ceremony, each child has a chance to take center stage to demonstrate his or her latest achievements in front of parents and peers and to bask in the applause and congratulations for a job well done.

"We're very excited about this great new program," said Bertisch. "Our 'milestone posters' help children visualize their individual progress toward their goals, making them more aware of their own accomplishments. The kids really work hard to earn their stickers, ribbons, trophies and such -- but we see the real payoff in the growth of their self-esteem and self-confidence as they challenge themselves to achieve -- and succeed!"
