MyBuys E-commerce Wellness Index up 14% in May

Increased Health Credited to Strength of Non-Promoted Item Sales in 2010

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - June 10, 2010) -  Internet Retailer Conference and Exhibition -- MyBuys, the leading provider of personalized recommendations for multi-channel retailers, today released the latest edition of the MyBuys E-commerce Wellness Index™ at the 2010 Internet Retailer Conference and Exhibition (IRCE) in Chicago, IL. The index measures the overall health of U.S. e-commerce and tracks key trends among retailers. Revenue from full-priced items was up 18.4% during the month of May which drove the May Index up 14% compared to the same month one year ago. Sales of discounted items decreased 22% during the month and they accounted for an average of 15% of total sales, down 3 points from April 2010. The average depth of discount decreased 3% to 27%. Total revenue in May 2010 decreased 4% compared to the same period one year ago.

"Retailers are experiencing stronger profits by relying less on promoted items then they did in 2009," said Robert Cell, CEO MyBuys. "As expected, unit orders are down with these increased price levels. We continue to see higher performance from retailers that use personalized merchandising strategies. These retailers maintain higher order volumes and had Average Order Values 16% greater across the industry on orders with personalization compared to those without."
