NAB-HD News Crew Selects Focus Enhancements' FireStore Direct To Edit HD Disk Recorders for Onsite Show Broadcasts and Exhibition

Direct To Edit DR-HD100 Tapeless Recorders Enable Crew to Go From Acquisition Directly to the Edit Suite

LAS VEGAS, NV -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 23, 2006 -- NAB2006 -- Focus Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in video production and conversion technology, today announced that its FireStore Direct To Edit® (DTE) DR-HD100 disk recorders are the tapeless video acquisition of choice for the onsite NAB-HD news crew.

NAB-HD will broadcast live reports, highlights, and events from the show. The NAB-HD exhibition is designed and built by SignaSys and is located in the LVCC Central Hall, booth C11539. This year's exhibit will feature a fully functioning HD facility incorporating an HD studio and production facility, automated multiservice master control environment, HD production and editing area, as well as an HD theater. NAB-HD programming will be distributed to displays throughout the Las Vegas Convention Center, to more than 75,000 hotel rooms throughout Las Vegas, and over the Internet at NAB-HD. NAB 2006 broadcasts start Sunday morning, April 23rd.

The portable FireStore DR-HD100 HD DTE recorders deliver HD and DV acquisition solutions from the field to the editing room, enabling videographers to record HD or DV streams directly to disk via FireWire from leading HDV and DV camcorders and decks including those from Sony, Canon, JVC and Panasonic. FireStore then connects directly to Mac/Windows-based editing systems, allowing video professionals to edit content directly from the DR-HD100 HD. When in DV25 mode, users can choose from the most popular NLE file formats including Avid OMF, QuickTime, Canopus AVI, Matrox AVI and more, as well as high definition 720p or 1080i MPEG2 transport streams (.m2t). The company's new QuickTime HD upgrade for Final Cut Pro users will also be featured at NAB.

"Focus Enhancements HD FireStore recorders are the only choice in our mind to acquire and back-up video while on the show floor," said NAB-HD Project Director Nigel Spratling. "It is a key component of our overall broadcast and exhibition, and is the only tapeless acquisition solution that allows us to go from the floor directly to edit, saving invaluable time and effort."

"NAB2006 is the place to be for broadcast and video professionals, and NAB-HD will broadcast the hottest solutions serving entertainment, news, business communications, and more -- all live from the show," said Matt McEwen, senior product manager for Focus Enhancements. "This is the type of environment where the FireStore thrives. The crew will have the ability to acquire footage and then connect directly to their onsite editing systems allowing them to edit content directly from the DR-HD100 HD, dramatically cutting the overall production time from acquisition to broadcast."

At NAB2006, Focus Enhancements will feature its highly popular FireStore DTE disk recorders, MX-4 Digital Video Mixers, ProxSys® Media Servers for Media Asset Management (MAM), and its Mantis™ MG Enterprise Media Gateway players for HD digital signage applications.
