NAC enforcement appliance market expected to double in 2007

CAMPBELL, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 14, 2007 -- The nascent NAC enforcement appliance market nearly quadrupled between 2005 and 2006, topping $83 million worldwide, and is expected to double in 2007, says Infonetics Research in its latest market size and forecast report, "NAC Enforcement Appliances."

2005 was the first year that a measurable volume of network access control enforcement appliances shipped, and since then it has been growing fast, with many vendors reporting strong first quarter performance in 2007, Infonetics' report shows. In addition, many vendors say they have massive sales pipelines and significant increases in the average deal size on the table for the rest of the year.

"The NAC enforcement appliance market is in its commercial infancy. Many companies have been evangelizing NAC technology and solutions for years, but it's only been recently that some of the early architectures have become less of a focus and nearly all vendors have gelled around some type of enforcement appliance-based architecture. This consolidation is driving the strong short- and long-term growth we're forecasting, but there are still a few nagging issues holding the market back from its full potential," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for network security at Infonetics Research.
