NACD Applauds Committee Approval of STB Reform Legislation

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - September 18, 2014) - The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD)'s President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation's approval yesterday of S. 2777, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) Reauthorization Act of 2014:

"NACD welcomes the committee's effort to address unfair rail practices by sending this critical piece of legislation to the full Senate for their consideration. We thank Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.) and John Thune (R-S.D.) for working hard to give the STB the tools it needs to fairly and efficiently investigate complaints and adjudicate rail rate disputes.

"We strongly urge the full Senate to pass S. 2777 to ensure rail customers are no longer held hostage by a lack of competition and fair pricing. We look forward to working closely with lawmakers to enable the STB to more effectively safeguard the equitable treatment of each and every rail customer."
