NACD Lauds Passage of Indiana Legislation Acknowledging Responsible Distribution

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - February 17, 2015) - Today, the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) welcomed the passage of Indiana Senate Resolution 8 (S.R. 8) introduced by State Senator Jim Merritt (R-Indianapolis) acknowledging that chemical distributors verified under NACD Responsible Distribution® meet the mission of the state's Environmental Stewardship Program. Responsible Distribution is the association's mandatory third-party verified environmental, health, safety, and security program.

S.R. 8, which recognizes NACD's commitment to environmental compliance processes, environmental management and conservation, and member companies' senior management commitment to continuous environmental improvement, requests that the Indiana Department of Environmental Management provide guidance on how current NACD Responsible Distribution practices and verified participants already satisfy requirements under the state's Environmental Stewardship Program.

"NACD and its member companies work hard to ensure environmental safety and compliance with the Environmental Stewardship Program," Merritt said. "I am thankful for the work NACD has done to protect their employees. As leaders in health, safety, security and environmental performance through implementation of Responsible Distribution, NACD deserves to be recognized and rewarded for their hard work, and we are lucky to have them as a part of our community."

NACD President Eric R. Byer stated, "We thank Sen. Merritt and his staff for working with us to ensure that Indiana chemical distributors verified under Responsible Distribution are given credit for the hard work they do to keep their employees and communities safe. We hope this legislation will serve as a model for states across the country and will one day be adopted by the United States Congress."
