NACD Urges House to Pass TSCA Reform Tonight

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - June 23, 2015) - National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President Eric R. Byer called on the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.R. 2576, the TSCA Modernization Act, during a vote expected this evening.

"The House has an opportunity to act in a bipartisan manner by passing legislation that will protect consumers while improving efficiency for the chemical industry and the economy overall," Byer said. "This bill is a balanced and effective method for modernizing a 40-year-old policy. We urge the House to pass it today.

"NACD supports efforts to ensure the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is improved in a way that recognizes the unique role of chemical distributors in the supply chain. For months, NACD has called on both the House and Senate to approve TSCA reform legislation that modernizes the U.S. chemical management system, as nearly 90 NACD members met with approximately 130 congressional offices this spring to make the case for modernizing TSCA. House passage of H.R. 2576 tonight would serve as one more step in that long-overdue effort."

NACD and its nearly 440 member companies are vital to the chemical supply chain providing products to over 750,000 end users. NACD members are leaders in health, safety, security, and environmental performance through implementation of Responsible Distribution, established in 1991 as a condition of membership and a third-party verified management practice.
