NACD Urges Passage of H.R. 4012 to Increase Regulatory Transparency

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - November 19, 2014) - Today, the National Association of Chemical Distributors' (NACD) President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement urging the U.S. House of Representatives to pass H.R. 4012, the Secret Science Reform Act of 2014:

"NACD strongly believes in increasing the transparency of scientific and technical information that agencies cite to justify regulatory actions significantly impacting the chemical industry. By passing H.R. 4012, Congress would take a critical step to ensure the studies and data federal agencies use to formulate new regulations, standards, guidance, and risk assessments are clearly identified and made available for public review.

We urge Congress to pass H.R. 4012 to increase transparency in the rulemaking process and ensure countless businesses across the United States are not subjected to burdensome regulations based on faulty science."

NACD and its nearly 450 member companies are vital to the chemical supply chain providing products to over 750,000 end users. NACD members are leaders in health, safety, security, and environmental performance through implementation of Responsible Distribution, established in 1991 as a condition of membership and a third-party verified management practice.
