NACD Welcomes Bipartisan Senate Passage of CFATS Legislation

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwired - December 10, 2014) - Today, the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) issued the following statement praising the U.S. Senate for passing H.R. 4007, the "Protecting and Securing Chemical Facilities from Terrorist Attacks Act of 2014," and urging the U.S. House of Representatives to quickly approve the bill before the end of the 113th Congress.

"NACD applauds the Senate for unanimous passage of H.R. 4007. Reauthorization of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standard (CFATS) program is long overdue and will provide much-needed certainty for regulators and industry alike. We thank Senate negotiators for working through their differences and reaching a compromise to ensure the security of our nation's chemical facilities.

"We now urge the House leadership to quickly bring this bill to the floor for a vote in order to cement the hard-fought gains legislators, regulators, and industry have made to bolster chemical facility security."

NACD and its nearly 450 member companies are vital to the chemical supply chain providing products to over 750,000 end users.
