Naked Food Magazine Launches Inaugural Print Issue

Leading Consumer Whole Food, Plant-Based Nutrition Publication Available in Stores Nationwide Starting April 2014

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2014) - Naked Food Magazine, the leading whole food, plant-based nutrition consumer publication, today announced its inaugural print issue, available nationwide the week of April 7, 2014 through a network of retailers including, amongst others, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Earth Fare, Pharmaca, Plum Market, Andronico's, New Seasons Markets, PCC Natural Markets and Natural Grocers.

Initially launched in early 2013 as a free, quarterly digital-only publication, and with a mission to promote a plant-based nutritional approach to reversing and preventing disease, Naked Food Magazine has generated so much interest, both domestically and internationally, that a move to print was the next logical step. Initially, the magazine will publish quarterly, but plans to move to a bi-monthly schedule in 2015.

Founded by Florida-based designer and musician, Margarita Restrepo, the inspiration for the creation of Naked Food Magazine came about following a personal tragedy. In 2012 Margarita's boyfriend and music partner, Thomas, passed away from a Stage IV brain cancer. Adopting a plant-based diet reduced Tom's tumor growth by 25%. Sadly this came too late, and he lost his battle. "What my personal loss brought to my life was enlightening. I realized that the food we eat can be the slowest form of poison or the most powerful form of healing," stated Restrepo. "Prevention and even reversal of disease is already possible. It isn't based on new technologies, lasers, pills, or therapies but on the most basic form of lifestyle medicine -- food. I was inspired to create Naked Food Magazine as an evidence-based nutrition publication with a mission of debunking nutrition myths, as well as educating, inspiring and empowering individuals through the knowledge of what is in their foods, and ultimately choosing local, organic, non-GMO and whole plant foods."

The magazine covers areas such as nutrition, disease prevention and reversal, wellness, fitness, recipes, lifestyle features, and tips. Each issue has keynote interviews with luminaries living a whole foods, plant-based lifestyle, and a regular Naked Rock Star feature that focuses on how high profile figures 'live naked.' The inaugural print issue features actress Laura Prepon, who is best known as one of the stars of the Netflix original series Orange Is The New Black, and the TV sitcom That '70s Show. Prepon talks in depth about her health and fitness regime and her conversion to a whole food, plant-based diet. Dancing With The Stars alumni Lisa Rinna is the featured Naked Rock Star, and she gives her top five pointers for 'living naked.'

Subscription to Naked Food Magazine is $24.95 per year, with discounted rates for multi-year subscribers. It is also available in digital format, which is included as part of the print subscription package or individually at $2.95 per issue or $9.95 per year.
