Napera Networks CEO to Discuss Role of SaaS in Building Better Security Products at Interop New York

Todd Hooper's Experience Creating Cloud-Based Network Security Solutions Brings Vital Hands-On Experience to Panel Session Titled, "Using SaaS to Make Good Products Great"

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - September 18, 2008) - Todd Hooper, CEO of Napera Networks, is passionate about the future role of cloud-based computing in network security, and he's bringing that excitement to the Interop New York conference this week. Hooper will join moderator Alistair Croll, principal analyst of BitCurrent, and other industry leaders on a panel titled, "Using SaaS to Make Good Products Great," to be held Friday, September 19, at 10:15 a.m. The rapid evolution of the Software as a Service (SaaS) model is appropriately taking the spotlight at this year's Interop New York conference. Hooper has over 15 years experience in the network security industry. In the Interop session, he will provide best practices and examples of how innovative companies can gain a competitive edge by tying an online software component to a real-world product. One example will be his own firm, Napera Networks, which is delivering security solutions that combine network appliances with Web-based services.

Napera Networks (www.napera.com) launched in early 2008 with a central focus on helping small and medium enterprises succeed at network security. The company uses Amazon Web Services to run its MyNapera.com online service and deliver a highly scalable management platform, with end-to-end security.

"When we started our product research in 2006, customers told us over and over again that they did not want to add more servers, so we built the Napera solution to enable customers to immediately deploy one appliance and leverage the MyNapera.com services without adding more servers to their local network," said Hooper. "Removing that complexity and putting the management in the cloud, as well as delivering a product that is easier to use and support, helps our customers deploy successfully and see real improvements in security. We believe this model is the future of network security."

Hooper continued, "I look forward to sharing the lessons we've learned along the way as we've deployed products around the world and helped our customers use SaaS as a strategic advantage."
