NARM Honors Virgin Megastore With Best Television Advertising Spot

National Association of Recording Merchandisers Present Virgin Megastores With Advertising Award at 2008 Convention

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - Every year the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) gather together for a convention to promote and support the music retailing community. Part of the annual convention is the award ceremony. This year, NARM honored Virgin Megastores with an award for Best Television Spot for the brand's commercial, "Where's All the Crap?" available for viewing at The spot was created to market Virgin Megastore's $10 CD sale. The premise of the ad was to showcase that Virgin Megastores stock the $10 sale bins with New Releases or in-demand CDs, not overstocked, out-of-date merchandise.

NARM uses several criteria to judge the entries including: editing, lighting, strong use of visuals and camera angles.

"NARM judges are looking to reward brands who showcase advertising and marketing excellence by selecting entries which are the most creative, exciting and effective at promoting a single message," explains Dee Mc Laughlin, VP of Marketing, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "We are thrilled that we've been honored by NARM for having the best TV ad."

"Our goal was to create something funny and entertaining. As with most advertisements you have just a few seconds to capture the audience's attention," explains the creator and director of the Virgin Megastore commercial, Charlie Fonville. "Virgin is known for being a little edgier and very blunt, so we thought the tagline 'Where's All the Crap?' was perfect and attention getting."

The commercial aired nationally throughout 2007.

Virgin Megastores were presented with the award at the NARM award ceremonies on May 7th.
