NASBA Elects New Board Members at Annual Meeting

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - December 4, 2007) - The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) elected a new slate of board members at its 100th Annual Meeting in Maui, Hawaii. NASBA's mission is to enhance the effectiveness of state boards of accountancy in meeting their regulatory responsibilities. NASBA's headquarters are located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Samuel K. Cotterell, CPA, of Boise, Idaho, acceded to the position of NASBA Chair for 2007-2008. He previously served as Chair of NASBA's Awards, Strategic Initiatives, Professional & Regulatory Response and Uniform Accountancy Act Committees. With this election, Wesley P. Johnson, CPA, acceded to the office of Past Chair and Thomas J. Sadler, CPA, acceded to the office of Vice Chair.

Leonard R. Sanchez, CPA, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was elected as a Director-at-Large for a three-year term. Mr. Sanchez is a former NASBA Southwest Regional Director and served on numerous NASBA committees including the CPA Mobility Task Force, Administration and Finance Committee, International Qualifications Appraisal Board (IQAB), Long-Term Strategy Committee, Examinations Committee, Strategies Initiative Committee, Ethics Committee and Nominating Committee. He is also a Founding Board Member of NASBA's non-profit subsidiary, The Center for the Public Trust.

Harry O. Parsons, CPA, of Reno, Nevada, was elected as Mountain Regional Director for 2007-2008. Mr. Parsons is an active member on NASBA's Ethics Committee, Board of Directors Committee and Relations with Member Boards Committee. He has also served on the Strategic Initiatives and Legislative Support Committees and as Vice Chair of the Legislative Support sub-committee.

Claireen L. Herting, CPA, of Chicago, Illinois, was elected as Great Lakes Regional Director for 2007-2008. She presently serves on NASBA's Relations with Member Boards committee and Board of Directors and has been a member of the Regulatory Structures & Issues Committee since 2003.

Donald H. Burkett, CPA, of West Columbia, South Carolina, was elected as Mid-Atlantic Regional Director for 2007-2008. Mr. Burkett is a member of the Board of Directors, Legislative Support and Relations with Member Boards Committees.

Viki Windfeldt, of Reno, Nevada, was elected as Executive Director for 2007-2008. She presently serves on the Board of Directors committee and has been a member of the Executive Directors Committee since 2004. She has also served on the Communications Committee.
