National Arthritis Awareness Program Launches Arthritis Broadcast Network: A New Multi-Media Platform for Arthritis News, Stories, Tools and More

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 10, 2012) - Entering its third year, the National Arthritis Awareness Program (NAAP), today launched the Arthritis Broadcast Network (ABN): North America's first multi-media platform dedicated to broadcasting arthritis news, information and stories shared by both experts in the disease and by people living with arthritis.

The NAAP co-leader and Executive Director of the Arthritis Research Centre of Canada (ARC), Dr. John Esdaile commented on the new network: "This is just the beginning for ABN and what we envision will be a new experience for our audience. There are extraordinary arthritis consumers and healthcare professionals doing some incredible things in the arthritis community. Our goal is to create an innovative way for our audience to connect with us in year three of the national arthritis awareness program and help shape ABN."

Guided by a panel of Canadian arthritis experts, ABN programming is focused on four key NAAP themes: living well with arthritis; saving lives and saving money by promoting arthritis prevention and treatment; arthritis and women; and using arthritis tools to aid early diagnosis and self-management/self-care. At launch, ABN will provide consumers and healthcare professionals with the tools to learn more about arthritis on five dedicated programs:

ABN News: Arthritis news. Anytime. Anywhere.

ABN Life: Living your best life with arthritis

Arthritis Intel: Helping you detect, treat and manage arthritis

A-Team: Partnering with your healthcare team

ABN Women: Exploring women's arthritis issues and needs

Commenting on how ABN is designed for viewers to participate with the network, NAAP co-leader and Arthritis Consumer Experts (ACE) President, Cheryl Koehn said: "As the online destination designed for viewers to share their arthritis stories, ABN encourages people to become an ABN Insider by signing up for ABN updates for the latest on the network and exclusive feature stories. We also will be encouraging our audience to submit written stories and testimonials, photographs and videos."
