National Association of Energy Service Companies Releases Statement on Jobs, Energy Efficiency in Advance of 28th Annual Conference, November 1-2 in San Diego

Energy Efficiency Is a Proven Economic Winner

Energy Service Industry Created Roughly 300,000 Jobs, Provided $50 Billion in Energy Savings and $25 Billion in Public Infrastructure Improvements Since 1990

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Oct 31, 2011) - The National Association of Energy Service Companies (NAESCO) will host several hundred of the country's leading energy experts during its 28th annual meeting at the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa November 1-2. NAESCO Executive Director, Terry E. Singer released the following statement in advance of the conference:

"At a time when Congress is debating the best way to support job creation, the energy-efficiency industry is one of the only industries to grow during the recession, hiring people at a time when unemployment seems stubbornly stuck at levels not seen since the early 1980s.

"In California, efficiency companies are a boon to the state's economy. Even during the economic downtown, the energy efficiency industry has continued to hire.

"The clean energy industry currently employs 432,840 people in California and was one of the only industries to grow during the recession -- expanding three times the growth of overall employment around the state.

"On November 1-2, several hundred of the country's leading energy experts are meeting in San Diego to discuss the opportunities that lie ahead for the energy efficiency industry both in California and around the nation. Leading the agenda will be a look at the expanding opportunities for clean energy markets through energy efficiency at a time of a time of political and economic upheaval.

"The energy efficiency industry's vibrant economic growth didn't develop accidentally, a combination of smart policies, investments in new technology and private/public partnerships have all been integral to building this new economic powerhouse. NAESCO members have been at the forefront of this movement and will continue to create and advocate for the kind of innovation we need to put America back to work."

Former Governor of Colorado, Bill Ritter who is now heading the newly created CSU Policy Center for New Energy Policy and the L.A. Times' national political analyst and columnist, Doyle McManus are NAESCO's featured keynote speakers at the 28th annual conference.
