National Bank Donates $150,000 to the Fondation du
Centre Normand-Leveille

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - March 17, 2005) - National Bank
(TSX:NA) is proud to make a $150,000 donation to the Fondation du Centre
Normand-Leveille to support the organization in its mission. This
donation is made as part of the foundation's 2004-2008 fund raising
campaign, which is chaired by Louis Vachon, Chairman of the Board of
National Bank Financial Group and Natcan Investment Management.

"The Centre Normand-Leveille gives individuals living with physical,
intellectual or sensory disabilities access to secure, adapted services
that promote their personal development, while affording a temporary
respite to their care givers. The centre is an essential community
resource, which is why I was pleased to become involved in this fund
raising campaign," explained Mr. Vachon.

The Centre Normand-Leveille is located in Saint-Charles-de-Drummond and
each year welcomes thousands of people of all ages from Monteregie and
the Granby, Victoriaville, Montreal and Sherbrooke areas, offering them
a place where they can take part in a variety of social, cultural and
sports activities. The funds raised during the campaign will be used to
carry out renovations, consolidate existing activities and increase the
centre's capacity.

Every year, the Bank gives close to $10 million in donations or
sponsorships to many health, education, community assistance and
cultural organizations.
