National Bank Will Donate Up to $100,000 to Assist Earthquake Victims in South Asia

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 14, 2005) - National Bank will donate up to $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support the organization's relief efforts for earthquake victims in South Asia.

The Bank's contribution will consist of a $50,000 corporate donation and an additional amount of up to $50,000 to match donations made by Bank employees and clients. National Bank branches are now accepting donations from the public.

All donations made at National Bank branches will be sent to the Canadian Red Cross and used to provide immediate relief and basic necessities to the victims. National Bank branches will accept public donations until November 14, 2005. The Canadian Red Cross will issue tax receipts for all donations of $10 or more.

In 2004, the Bank and its subsidiaries, through corporate donations, sponsorships, in-branch fundraising activities and various benefit events, gave $12 million to hundreds of Canadian education, health care, cultural and community organizations.
