National Business Group on Health Elects Marleece Barber, MD, Lockheed Martin Executive, to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Dec 18, 2013) - The National Business Group on Health, a non-profit association of more than 375 large U.S. employers, today announced that Marleece Barber, MD, director of health and wellness and chief medical officer at Lockheed Martin Corporation, has been elected to its elite board of directors.

"Marleece brings a wealth of experience in leading and directing the development and implementation of corporate health benefit and wellness programs and I know that she will be a tremendous asset to all of our employer members."

Dr. Barber joined Lockheed Martin in 2011 as chief medical officer with overall responsibility for developing and executing the corporation's health & wellness strategy, which includes developing innovative methods for increasing the overall health of employees. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, she was global director of health, work-life and safety for Deere & Company. In that role, she designed a strategy to create a culture of health at Deere locations around the world. Dr. Barber created wellness programs that emphasized the importance of risk factor reduction, good nutrition, exercise, and stress management in the prevention of chronic disease.

Dr. Barber holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Dillard University; a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry; and a Master of Science from Harvard University School of Public Health. She is also a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
