National Car Rental Celebrates Business Travel "Heroes"

Advertising Campaign Takes Light-Hearted Look at Travel

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 14, 2011) - National Car Rental, the premier car rental brand for business travel, today launched "Hero," an advertising campaign designed to promote the company's offering to business travellers.

The 17-week broadcast campaign with creative developed by Cannonball Advertising features the stories of four "heroic" business travellers. Voiced by Sir Patrick Stewart, the television campaign offers a light-hearted look at the travails of travel:

•    CARLOS: who glides gracefully through an airport concourse
     
  ROBIN: directs a client meeting with skill and charm
     
  WILL: negotiates the airport security line with military precision
     
•    MATT: packs for an extended trip with expert efficiency

"At National, we are focused on exceeding the expectations of business travellers so our customers can focus on work," said Halifax native John MacDonald, vice president of marketing at National Car Rental. "We are pleased with our new campaign because it highlights what sets us apart from other car rental agencies – choice."

With business travel growing at a rate of 4.6 per cent per year, according to the Conference Board of Canada's Canadian Business Travel Outlook, National's campaign will target new and frequent renters looking to for a convenient way to simplify their travel experience.

The advertising campaign coincides with the expansion of National's Emerald Aisle program in Canada. National – which launched the car rental industry's first comprehensive frequent-renter program – further expedites the rental process for Emerald Club members by providing access to the "Emerald Aisle," an exclusive section of the lot where members can select any vehicle as long as they reserve a mid-sized car. In March 2010, National introduced the Aisle at the Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver airports. Beginning this month, members also will be able to access the Aisle at National's Toronto Pearson International Airport location.
