National Cybersecurity Expert to Keynote ITA Security Symposium May 13

All-Day Forum Will Cover Digital Security Issues Related to Cloud, Big Data, Payments & More


CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 28, 2014) -  The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) announced today that its May 13 all-day ITA Security Symposium in Chicago will be keynoted by James Sheire, Senior Advisor, National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, U.S. Department of Commerce. Sheire, based in Washington, D.C., will discuss strategies for improving the privacy and security of online transactions to thwart online fraud and identity theft.

The symposium will also feature panel discussions focused on cloud, big data, payments and general digital security issues with insights from nearly 20 security and IT professionals from local technology companies, banks and law firms as well as the U.S. Secret Service. Sessions will include:

  • Industry Trends in Cybersecurity, including the impact on software developers and the resulting shifts in CIO/CTO budgets;
  • Securing Big Data, addressing data ownership and protection questions as well as the implications for privacy and international businesses;
  • Keeping Customer Accounts and Payments Secure, covering the causes of credit card data breaches plus the future of mobile wallets and other payment authorization and authentication methodologies; and
  • Is the Cloud Really More Secure than On-Premise?, offering an examination of cloud security issues and the cloud vs. on-premise decision.

Focused on addressing a key concern of technology companies and technology departments, the event is open to industry executives. It is sponsored by Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP.
