National Defence/Media Advisory: Maj. Paeta Hess-Von Kruedener to Return Home

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 3, 2006) - Maj. Paeta Hess-von Kruedener, the Infantry Officer with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry who lost his life while serving with the UN Truce Supervision Organisation in the Khiyam area of South Lebanon, and who previously served as an instructor at the Peace Support Training Centre at CFB Kingston, Ont., is scheduled to return home tomorrow.

Maj. Hess-von Kruedener's remains are expected to arrive 8 Wing/CFB Trenton, Ont. on Friday, August 4, at 7 p.m. As per the request of the family, the news media are invited to view the arrival, though no interviews will be given.

Present to pay their respects will be: Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, the Governor General of Canada; the Honourable Mr. Gordon O'Connor; Minister of National Defence; Gen. Rick Hillier, Chief of the Defence Staff; Maj.-Gen. Marc Lessard, Acting Chief of Land Staff; Maj.-Gen. Stuart Beare, Commander Land Force Doctrine and Training System; Brig.-Gen. Walter Semianiw, Assistant Chief Military Personnel; and Brig.-Gen. Guy Thibault, Commander of Land Force Central Area.
