National Film Festival for Talented Youth Partners With Audiosocket to Provide Filmmakers Free Access to Legally Licensed Music

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - Nov 1, 2011) - The largest youth film festival in the world, the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY), and Audiosocket, a music, media and technology company that delivers up-and-coming talent to the marketplace, have joined together to provide young filmmakers free access to legally licensed music. Through this new partnership, NFFTY filmmakers can license up to five songs from the Audiosocket roster for use in films they are submitting to NFFTY. Audiosocket will pay their artists the commission for use in NFFTY films, so the filmmakers won't incur any licensing fees.

The music licensing process has always been expensive and elusive. Audiosocket's massive music catalog is quick and easy for NFFTY filmmakers to discover and license music from emerging artists and Grammy winning composers alike.

"Music licensing is a huge challenge within the filmmaker community, and we want to educate our young filmmakers about how to get permission for the music they use in their films," comments NFFTY Managing Director, Lindsey Johnson. "We are thrilled about the Audiosocket partnership, and our filmmakers should be as well as it allows them to do the right thing, and not at their artistic or financial expense."

"Finding music you actually want to use in your films is a challenge," said Jenn Miller, COO, Audiosocket. "We understand the importance music plays in film and we vet every track with that in mind. Our partnership with NFFTY is core to the educational program we're rolling out in 2012 for students and film schools. Awareness without resource only goes so far. Audiosocket is committed to providing students easy access to legally licensed music without sacrificing quality."

NFFTY is accepting entries for the 2012 film festival until January 31, 2012. Entries can be submitted online to http://nffty.org/attend/submit. NFFTY 2012 takes place April 26 through April 29, 2012 in Seattle, WA. Over the past five years, nearly 2,000 filmmakers aged 22 and under have submitted films. This year, it's expected that more than 1,000 young directors from 40 U.S. states and 20 countries will enter their films into the festival.
