National Institute of Health Enlists AppWorx Software to Automate Disparate Business Applications

BELLEVUE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 9, 2007 -- The National Institute of Health (NIH), the primary federal agency for conducting and supporting basic, clinical and translational medical research, has selected AppWorx software to automate and integrate its application processing environment. Ultimately, the NIH plans to automate its run book, regularly scheduled jobs and concurrent processes for "lights-out" operations and central control of business application processing.

In 2001 the NIH embarked on an initiative to replace its existing legacy Administrative Database and Central Accounting System applications. To achieve its goal of providing more accurate and timely information to the 27 Institutes and Centers it works with, the NIH chose a number of best-of-breed business applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, Gelco Travel Manager, Compusearch Prism and Sunflower Assets.

"We needed a solution that complimented the functionality of our application stack and allowed processing to be driven by event rather than date and time," said a statement released by the NIH Business System Program Management Office. "Since many of our business processes cross multiple applications, we plan to use AppWorx as a single point of control."

AppWorx technology will allow the NIH to automate and integrate its business applications without scripting -- streamlining processes, easing change management and reducing the manual intervention required for complex processing. AppWorx allows multiple conditional dependencies to be applied to individual process steps while output scanning and automated error notifications prevent bad data from corrupting process flows.

"We're pleased that the NIH has selected the AppWorx technology as its application automation solution," said Dan McCall, COO, AppWorx Corporation. "The NIH is at the forefront of government computing best practices, and the addition of AppWorx ensures efficient, scalable and flexible processing now and in the future."
