National Power Corporation and Clenergen Corporation (CRGE: OB) Sign MOA to Develop Renewable Electricity in the Philippines

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 28, 2010) - National Power Corporation (NPC) and Clenergen Corporation (OTCBB: CRGE) reached agreement to collaborate in producing green electricity using biomass electricity systems for NPC's Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) covering 0.5 to 2 MW power plants.

In a joint announcement, NPC President Froilan A. Tampinco and Clenergen Corporation CEO Mark LM Quinn agreed to pursue feasibility studies for the NPC's nominated areas -- Kabugao, Kalinga, Lubuagan, Apayao, Concepcion, Romblon, Corcuera, Romblon and Banton. NPC believes these areas have the best potential for developing competitive renewable sources of electricity.

Clenergen Corporation, a publicly held US company (CRGE) have developed a programme to produce high-density, short-rotation biomass crops on a commercial scale to provide sustainable supplies of clean energy to regional, independent clients and national grids.

National Power Corporation, is the Philippine government's mandated state agency to develop off-grid small island power systems using non-conventional electricity systems.
