National Safe Boating Council Reveals Major Updates to BoatOnCourse.com

Interactive Site Introduces Boaters to Basic Navigation Rules in Fun and Educational Way

MANASSAS, VA--(Marketwired - Nov 18, 2014) - Looking to advance your awareness of basic navigation rules? Today, the National Safe Boating Council reveals major updates and additions to its popular Basic Navigation Rules Awareness website, BoatOnCourse.com. The website introduces recreational boaters to basic navigation rules, while getting them excited about learning more about boating safety and creating a greater awareness for the need to take a boating safety course.

Featured updates include a new chapter of adventures, boating scenarios, original storylines, and interactive quizzes for viewers to test their knowledge. BoatOnCourse.com is recognized with the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators' Seal of Safe Boating and is produced under a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard.

"We're very excited to provide our visitors an opportunity to enhance their knowledge of navigation rules, as well as giving them new information on the 'Rules of the Road,'" said Rachel Johnson, executive director of the National Safe Boating Council. "This website provides a great introduction to safer boating practices, while encouraging boaters to take a safe boating course, offered by many of our partners."

Boating scenarios continue to teach recreational boaters around the world to boat safe and smart, without forgetting to reinforce the importance of life jacket wear. New segments include navigation lights, sound signals, sailing vessels, commercial vessels, narrow channels, and exclusion zones. These are in addition to BoatOnCourse.com's library of material on basic rules including operator's responsibility, maintaining a proper lookout, safe speed, crossing, meeting head-on, and overtaking situations.

BoatOnCourse.com was built to provide an enjoyable and educational experience where boaters could learn basic navigation rules and know what to do in various scenarios experienced every day out on the water. The NSBC worked collaboratively with the Parroco Productions team to deliver a valuable line-up of boating scenarios.
