National School Bus Safety Week "Be Smart, Be Seen"

TEMPE, AZ--(Marketwired - October 19, 2015) - American Traffic Solutions (ATS) is pleased to help promote National School Bus Safety Week on Oct. 19 -23, 2015. National School Bus Safety Week is a great opportunity to remind motorists to always exercise caution when school buses are stopped and boarding or disembarking children. This year's theme -- "Be Smart, Be Seen" -- aims to heighten awareness of local stop arm laws and urges drivers to be extra cautious when approaching a stopped school bus.

The National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services recently estimated that nearly 80,000 vehicles pass school buses illegally every day. CrossingGuard®, ATS' school bus stop-arm technology, is designed to help school districts address this growing problem with a camera system that automatically detects if a vehicle passes the stopped school bus while the stop arm is extended. Images of a vehicle's license plate and a video that captures the entire violation event provide law enforcement with the evidence they need to effectively prosecute these violations.

"ATS is pleased to support National School Bus Safety Week and wants to recognize school administrators and law enforcement for their commitment to the safe transportation of their students," said David Roberts, ATS President and COO. "At ATS, our priority is making life safer by providing technology that's help enhance the safety for students entering and exiting the school bus."

ATS has recently partnered with the multitalented Mommy blogger, rapper and YouTube sensation Deva Dalporto to release a bus safety parody video titled "Bus, Don't Move," ( sang to the tune of Young MC's "Bust A Move." The spoof spotlights the need for parents and drivers to be attentive and careful in school zones and around school buses.
