National Truck Driver of the Year Award to be Presented to Ontario Truck Hero

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 16, 2006) - A truck driver who was previously honoured for lifesaving by the OPP and who has driven over five million collision free kilometres in 39 years of commercial driving will be presented with the Canadian Trucking Alliance/Volvo Trucks Canada National Truck Driver of the Year award at lunch today.

The award will be presented at the Ontario Trucking Association 80th annual convention at a special ceremony (Hall A, 2:00 pm, Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Road, Toronto)

Each year the award goes to a professional transport driver who has a collision-free driving record and is an exemplary truck driver both on and off the road. The recipient is selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from the: Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Canada Safety Council, the Traffic Injury Research Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Trucking Alliance.
