Nationally Recognized Elder Law Attorney Tim Takacs Returns to Charlotte for an Informational Breakfast Event Presented by Charlotte's aro

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwire - April 23, 2008) - Back by popular demand. Tim Takacs, recognized as one of America's foremost authorities on issues facing the elderly and their caregivers, will be in Charlotte to host a second public breakfast event on Friday, May 9, 2008.

Last April, Takacs addressed an audience of area residents -- of varying ages -- together with healthcare professionals and attorneys with an interest in serving the elderly. "There is an urgency to educate the public about the emotional and financial challenges of caring for aging and disabled loved ones," comments Takacs. "That's why it's imperative to make this type of forum available again."

This year, Takacs' address is entitled, "Getting Older? A 10-Point Survival Plan for Boomers and Their Parents." Sponsors for the event will be on hand with adjunct information on services related to the issues of aging. Sponsors include The Estate and Elder Law Firm Vandiver & Bryan, as well as The Brian Center, Sunrise Senior Living, The Estate Lady, Hospice and Palliative Care, and the Alzheimer's Organization of Charlotte.

Takacs says he is particularly interested in drawing Boomers to the session since this demographic, primarily, has been handed the reins of finding and financing the health and housing needs of their aging parents or other disabled loved ones. At the same time, Takacs points out that these 40- and 50-year olds are likely still parenting their own children -- and saving for their retirement years. Boomers will face a shortage of time and resources unless they have a "Survival Plan" in place, warns Takacs.

"There is, in fact, a 'Boomer crisis' upon us," remarks Nicole Vandiver Bryan of the Estate & Elder Law Firm of Vandiver & Bryan, who will speak alongside Takacs at the attorney-only workshop to follow the breakfast event. "We saw our participation in this event as a must-do for our community. It is a topic that must be discussed and Elder Law Attorneys are a critical part of putting together a family plan that works."

The breakfast event will offer attendees a clear, 10-point plan that will enable them to effectively manage their own long-term care, or that of a loved one. Topics included in the discussion:

* Medicaid and other public benefits

* Asset Protection

* Wills & Trusts

* The aging process

* Preparing for the unexpected

* Care advocacy

* Crisis intervention

* Family Communications

The event is being offered for a nominal fee and persons with elder care/law concerns, as well as attorneys and healthcare professionals serving the elderly are encouraged to take advantage of this one-of-a-kind informational event. Group discounts are available.
