Naturopathic Doctors Rally to Promote Naturopathic Medicine on a National Level

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 19, 2007) -

Attention: Health Editor, Medical Editor, Education Editor, News Editor

Naturopathic Medicine Week is an annual initiative to build awareness of disease prevention, treatment and health promotion from a naturopathic perspective. Naturopathic Medicine Week 2007 will be held from April 28 to May 6. The theme this year is The Building Blocks of Health.

Hundreds of naturopathic doctors (NDs) across Canada will be opening their office doors or going into their communities to inform people on how naturopathic medicine can benefit them. Naturopathic Medicine Week 2007 - The Building Blocks of Health will build awareness of naturopathic medicine as a distinct system of primary care that addresses the root cause of illness or disease and promotes health and healing using natural therapies.

Naturopathic doctors are highly educated primary care providers who integrate standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies. They have been regulated and practicing in Ontario for over 80 years. Treating a broad range of conditions ranging from common ailments such as cold and flu, food allergies, chronic fatigue, and childhood illnesses, to chronic degenerative conditions such as arthritis, asthma, heart, immune system, digestive and bowel conditions, naturopathic medicine is an integral part of Ontario's healthcare system.

To date over a dozen Mayors across the province have declared April 28 - May 6, 2007 Naturopathic Medicine Week.
