Nautilus, Inc. Recognizes the Passing of the Founder of Nautilus Equipment

VANCOUVER, WA--(Marketwire - August 28, 2007) - The Nautilus, Inc. (NYSE: NLS) staff and board sadly acknowledge the passing of Arthur Jones, the inventor of Nautilus® training equipment in 1970 that has served as the standard of strength training equipment for nearly four decades.

Mr. Jones was a pioneer in strength training, where he employed Nautilus shell-shaped cams to help users achieve optimal exertion through a full range of motion in single-station training equipment. He also pioneered high intensity training techniques that were credited with expanding strength training to the masses through quick and effective workouts.

"The fitness innovations Mr. Jones brought to market are what first established the Nautilus brand as the gold standard in fitness," said Bob Falcone, Chairman and CEO of Nautilus, Inc. "We are pleased to carry on his legacy of innovation with a complete line of cardiovascular and strength equipment bearing the Nautilus brand."

Falcone said Mr. Jones has not had any association with Nautilus since 1986, when he sold his interest in the company and brand. The Nautilus brand was purchased by Vancouver, Wash.-based Direct Focus, Inc. in 1999, which adopted the brand as its corporate moniker in 2002 and is now known as Nautilus, Inc.

"Arthur Jones was the founder of modern-day exercise," said Greg Webb, a Nautilus, Inc. vice president of product development who began working with Jones in 1977. "He had an incredible ability to create the interface between man and machine by incorporating biomechanics into exercise equipment."

Nautilus, Inc. is set to introduce Nautilus One™, a new line of dial-driven strength training equipment that is considered the first major revision since Jones' original design was introduced in 1970. The line is expected to begin shipping in October.
