NavStar Technologies, Inc. Initiates a Field Trial for the US Trucking Industry Mandate for Electronic On Board Recorders

ANAHEIM, CA--(Marketwire - October 4, 2010) -  NavStar Technologies, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: NVSR), a company focused on producing and commercializing products and services for tracking/monitoring and reporting on the location and condition of high value cargo and other assets, today announced that it has initiated a field trial with an East Coast trucking company to understand how their current products and services can be used to satisfy the trucking industry mandate for Electronic On Board Recorders (EOBR).

Truckers have been subject to federal regulations of their work hours for decades; it wasn't until April 2010 that the federal government declared that certain motor carriers and buses must use an electronic device rather than paper logs to monitor their hours. The existing NavStar NVTRAK product line already has the key elements needed to meet the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Association's (FMCSA) requirements.

"This field trial on the east coast is structured to validate that our current tracking/monitoring system can comply with the EOBR requirements. It will also provide us with real input on usability and costs which are key facts as this mandate is 'rolled out' over the next several years. We believe that our current products and services can provide a very efficient and cost effective solution. With 18M trucks in the US we don't need to dominate this market segment, we just need to participate in it," said N. Douglas Pritt, Chairman of NavStar Board of Directors.
