Naxos of America Welcomes Four Additional Labels to Its Distributed Label Group in May

FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwire - May 10, 2011) - The #1 independent classical music distributor in the United States, Naxos of America, is adding four record labels to its roster. All distinctly different from one another, the new labels include Carus, Timpani Records, Journeys and Brilliant Classics, which was mentioned in a previous press release (http://mwne.ws/knQLFd).

Carus-Verlag was founded in 1972 to publish sacred choral music. Since its beginnings, the focus of Carus has been to publish both little known choral works from all eras in critical editions as well as reliable editions of older works which do not conform to the standards of modern editorial practice. As a record label, Carus is more concerned with setting high standards of interpretation and repertoire as opposed to worrying about mass appeal. Carus' world premiere recording of Johann Michael Haydn's "Requiem in B flat Major" was lauded with a MIDEM Classical Award in 2007 and many other Carus releases have been chosen as Editor's Choice recordings in Gramophone Magazine.

Timpani Records was created in 1990 by Stephane Topakian. The label's recordings of French repertoire from the late 19th Century to the present quickly became must-haves for classical music lovers. Since its inception, Timpani has released over 200 recordings, with releases as eminent as Pierné's "Cydalise et le chèvre- pied" -- which earned the label the Record of the Year distinction at the Midem Awards -- operas such as Ropartz's "Le Pays" or Jean Cras' "Polyphème", Pierné or Honegger's complete chamber music works, but also the monumental tributes to the symphonic works of Maurice Ohana or Iannis Xenakis.

Journeys strives to bring together the very best sounds from around the world from the rhythms of Cuba to the beats of Africa. Packaged in double-CD format containing 40 tracks, each Journeys recording offers quality repertoire at a competitive price.

Headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville, Naxos of America is the #1 independent classical music distributor in the U.S. Specializing in state-of-the-art distribution, marketing and promotion, Naxos of America distributes nearly 20,000 SKUs to traditional brick and mortar retail, as well as offering a comprehensive suite of services tailored to consumer direct fulfillment.
