Naxos Artists Earn Six Grammy(R) Awards


FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - Artists and producers from Naxos recordings were honored with six Grammy Awards this evening at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards telecast from Los Angeles.

Michael Daugherty's Metropolis Symphony and Deus Ex Machina, with Giancarlo Guerrero conducting the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, led the way by winning three awards -- Best Orchestral Performance, Best Classical Composition (Deus Ex Machina) and Best Engineered Classical Album (Mark Donahue, John Hill and Dirk Sobotka).

Naxos artist Paul Jacobs garnered a Grammy for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance without Orchestra for his recording of Olivier Messiaen: Livre du Saint-Sacrement. This marks the first time in the history of the awards that a disc of solo organ music has won a Grammy.

The Parker Quartet brought home a Grammy for their Naxos recording of György Ligeti: String Quartets Nos. 1 & 2 in the Best Chamber Music Performance category.

Producer of the Year, Classical honors were given to David Frost for a full body of his work including Naxos' Avner Dorman: Concertos for Mandolin, Piccolo, Piano and Concerto Grosso
