Naxos of America Welcomes Three New Distribution Partners in March 2014

FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2014) - Melodiya, SanCtus Recordings and Tactus Records all join the Naxos of America distribution family this month.

Melodiya (http://www.melody.su/en/) was the state-owned major record label of the Soviet Union. It was established in 1964 as the All-Union Gramophone Record Firm of the USSR Ministry of Culture Melodiya. It utilized gigantic resources of numerous recording studios, manufacturing facilities throughout the USSR as well as a powerful centralized distribution and promotion system. By 1973, Melodiya had released some 1,200 gramophone records with the total circulation of 190-200 million per year and 1 million compact cassettes per year and was exporting its production into more than 70 countries. After having disappeared from the market in 2004, Melodiya started rereleasing its recordings in 2006 and is quickly building up a formidable catalog.

SanCtuS Recordings (http://sanctusrecordings.com/) primary objective is to produce recordings which meaningfully contribute to the legacy of recorded music, with special focus on outstanding music from Brazil and South America. The SanCtuS catalog divides into two different lines. The first focuses on recovering important musical documents and interpretations. The second concentrates on bringing outstanding contemporary musicians to the recording hall in order to reveal music that has either been neglected or that benefits from being presented in a new light.

Tactus Records (http://tactus.it/home/) was founded in Bologna, Italy in 1986 by Serafino Rossi. In the beginning, the label focused on the music of Italian composers of the Renaissance and Baroque periods but its catalog has expanded to include all eras including the classical music of today.

In addition to being an award-winning classical label, Naxos of America is the #1 independent classical music distributor in the U.S. and Canada. Specializing in state-of-the-art distribution, marketing and promotion, Naxos of America distributes nearly 50,000 titles on CD and DVD to traditional brick and mortar retail, as well as offering a comprehensive suite of services tailored to consumer direct fulfillment. Naxos of America is also the largest digital distributor of independent classical music, supplying a catalog of over 50,000 albums to hundreds of digital download and mobile outlets worldwide.
