NCP engineering Transforms End-User Secure Remote Access Experience

Industry First: One-Click VPN Software Bundles Seven Endpoint Security Functions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - March 23, 2010) - NCP engineering, Inc. today released the industry's first one-click VPN software client suite, to combine seven separate endpoint security functions into a single product. Available today, the NCP Secure Enterprise Client version 9.2, was designed from the ground-up to be lightweight (under 21 MBs), non-intrusive for the user, secure and fully functional across any Windows, Linux or Symbian operating system in either 32 or 64-bit versions.

With the new version of the NCP Secure Enterprise Client, network administrators can drastically improve policy enforcement, end-user acceptance and reduce help desk support calls from confused remote staff struggling to access the network. The new client is a one-click solution that bundles an IPsec client, endpoint firewall, VPN dialer, SMS-based hotspot authenticator, WLAN 'stay connected' roaming function and wireless budget manager into a single software solution.

Key Benefits for End-Users:

  • The WLAN 'stay connected' roaming function automatically identifies the strongest wireless access point with the same service set identifier (SSID) and negotiates a new secure VPN connection without dropping the connection. All of this is invisible to the end-user, who simply continues his / her activities while on the go without interruption.
  • The SMS-based hotspot authenticator automatically negotiates a one-time password via text message for any hotspot, freeing the end-user from fumbling with a hardware token or keeping track of unique passwords.
  • The end-user never needs to worry about man-in-the-middle attacks, certificate exchange or device firewall settings, as all of the appropriate settings are pre-set by the network administrator and negotiated automatically within the NCP Secure Enterprise Client itself. The end-user just clicks to safely and quickly connect.
  • When combined with the NCP Secure Enterprise Server, the enterprise client enables the Path Finder technology, solving the complex connection issues for end-users created by firewall settings preventing IPsec communication. This is a common problem for remote users trying to access the company network from hotels and airports.
