NCSBN Award Ceremony Honors Outstanding Nurse Regulators

CHICAGO, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 8, 2005 -- The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) (www.ncsbn.org) recognized its dedicated and exceptional membership and guests at its annual awards luncheon during the 2005 NCSBN Delegate Assembly held in Washington, D.C. Over 300 guests joined in the festivities, which were presided over by NCSBN President, Donna Dorsey. Dorsey commented that she was delighted to honor NCSBN members and guests for their significant contributions to nursing regulation. She also thanked the NCSBN Committee Chairs and volunteers for their outstanding efforts on behalf of NCSBN.

Specific award recipients included:

Barbara Morvant, MN, RN, Executive Officer of the Louisiana State Board of
Nursing
The R. Louise McManus Award is the most prestigious of NCSBN's awards. Individuals nominated for this award have made sustained and lasting significant contributions through their highest commitment and dedication to the purposes and mission of NCSBN.
Marcia Hobbs, RN, DSN, Board Member of the Kentucky Board of Nursing
The Meritorious Achievement Award is granted to a board or staff member of a Member Board for significant contributions to the purposes of NCSBN and who make a positive impact on the contributions of NCSBN.
Robin Vogt, PhD, RN, FNP-C, recent past President of the Missouri Board of
Nursing
The Exceptional Leadership Award is granted to an individual who has served as president of a member board and has made significant contributions to NCSBN in that role.
William F. Knight, JD, General Counsel of the Arkansas State Board of
Nursing
The Exceptional Contribution Award is granted for significant contribution by a board of nursing staff member who does not serve as an executive officer or a board member who is not the current board president.
